How Gate Codes Work on swimbooker

Some fisheries use gate codes to control access to their lakes or complex — and swimbooker makes it simple for venues to share these securely with anglers. 🎣

Whether your fishery sends them automatically at booking or just before your session, here’s how it all works 👇


🗝️ What Are Gate Codes?

Gate codes are unique entry codes provided by certain venues to help manage access to private or gated fisheries.

They keep the venue secure and ensure only authorised anglers can enter during their booked session times. 🚧


🕓 When Will I Receive My Gate Code?

Venues have full control over when and how gate codes are sent. There are two main options:

1️⃣ At the Point of Booking

  • Some fisheries choose to include the gate code in your booking confirmation email or app notification.

  • You’ll receive this as soon as your booking is confirmed — no need to wait!

2️⃣ Before Your Session

  • Other venues prefer to send gate codes closer to your session date.

  • In this case, you’ll receive a separate email or notification a few days before your trip (based on the venue’s settings).

  • Example: A venue might send the code 2 days before your session starts.

💡 Tip: Always check your spam or promotions folder if you can’t find your gate code email.


🗓️ Time-Based Gate Codes

swimbooker even supports time-windowed gate codes, meaning some venues change codes:

  • Daily

  • Weekly

  • Or even monthly 🔄

If your session overlaps a change (for example, a 3-day booking where the code changes on day two), don’t worry — you’ll automatically receive multiple codes to cover your entire stay.


📩 How Gate Codes Are Delivered

Fisheries can choose to send gate codes:

  • ✉️ By Email — Direct to your inbox.

  • 📱 By Push Notification — Sent via the swimbooker mobile app.

  • Or Both! for extra peace of mind.

You’ll only receive gate codes from venues that use this feature — not all fisheries require them.
