❄️ I Think the Lake I’ve Booked Might Be Frozen or Not Fishable - What Should I Do Next?

During the colder months, it’s quite common for lakes to freeze fully or partially, which can sometimes make fishing unsafe or impossible 🎣❄️. If you’re concerned that your upcoming booking might be affected, here’s the best way to handle it.

🏞️ Step 1: Contact the Fishery Directly

Your first step should always be to contact the venue where you’re booked to fish.

  • Lake conditions can change daily (and sometimes hourly!)

  • Some lakes may be partially frozen but still fishable

  • Others may be completely frozen and temporarily closed

Because conditions are so variable, the venue is best placed to advise you on the current situation and next steps.

📜 Each Venue Has Its Own Policy

Every fishery sets its own policy for frozen or unfishable conditions. Depending on the venue, they may offer:

  • 🔄 A re-booking for a future date

  • 💳 Credit to use against another session

  • 💰 A refund (this varies by venue)

swimbooker doesn’t make this decision on the venue’s behalf, so it’s important to speak to them directly to understand your options.

🕰️ What If Conditions Change Closer to My Session?

Frozen conditions can improve quickly — especially with milder weather — so even if a lake is frozen today, it may be fishable by the time your session starts.

That’s why we recommend checking in with the venue as close to your booking date as possible.

💬 Still Can’t Get Hold of the Venue?
